Integral to the development of Tianjin Eco-City, the project to turn the wastewater impoundment area into an ecologically friendly reservoir lake involved the dredging and disposal of 5 million m3 of contaminated sediments, facilitated with Geotube® dewatering and containment solutions.

The dewatering facility was designed according to the principles of landfill. Once the tubes had dewatered, the tubes were covered with soil fill to smoothen the mound core and capped. Further works were then carried out to reshape the lake and re-impound the lake with clean water. The Geotube® mound would then be landscaped and turned into recreational parkland.
